Custom courseware (also called ‘bespoke’ software) is courseware that is specific to your organization. This is the opposite to generic or ‘off-the-shelf” courseware which is designed for use across multiple companies and organizations and usually addresses topics that are common across all businesses e.g. communication skills, sales skills, government regulations, etc.

However, if you require your employees to build knowledge and insight into your own particular products, services or procedures, then a bespoke program is a must. The key reason is context. Using generic e-courseware can result in employees failing to understand how they can apply what has been learned to their own work situation – in other words, they need context and that can only be achieved through customization.
